Shafaq News/The 16th International Erbil Book Fair, held in the Kurdistan Region's capital, began with a magnificent ceremony on Wednesday.

The fair, organized by the al-Mada Foundation for Media, Culture, and Arts, was attended by a large number of guests, including Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani, who cut the inauguration ribbon, as well as country leaders, political figures, intellectuals, and journalists.

According to a Shafaq News correspondent, the book exhibition will feature 300 publishing firms from 22 nations, showing an astounding collection of over 1.5 million volumes spanning a wide range of interests.

Nasri Hassan Ali of Al-Nasri Publishing House stated his delight with the fair's organization, citing the wide range of books on many subjects. Ali also mentioned the discounts available throughout the expo, some of which reached up to 30% off.

Mohammed Sherko, a Syrian publisher, told Shafaq News, "We are participating as a four-year-old publishing business that specializes in cultural and literary works. The fair has had a good crowd, especially on its opening day."

Attendee Samira Ahmed stressed the fair's significance as "Iraq's largest cultural gatherings, offering readers a wide selection of titles."

The Kurdistan Regional Government's Ministry of Culture and Youth kicked off preparations for the 16th edition of the Erbil International Book Fair earlier this week.

From April 17 to April 27, the fair is open everyday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
